Celestina sighed to herself and dropped her heavy Messenger bag onto the beautiful, lush green grass under a large weeping willow near the Black Lake. It was shady and cool and very nice there, so she easily sat down in the grass.. leaning back against the rough bark of the tree. Her red-auburn curls fell across her shoulders and down into the grass and she closed her blue eyes to shade them from the sun that turned her eyelids red. It felt nice to be outside on a Friday afternoon after her first week of classes at Hogwarts.
It had been a bad week and a good week.. she'd made a good friend in Lily Evans, the female prefect of her year. Her father had introduced them.. - not, of course, that Lily knew who her Dad was.. no.. that would never be allowed... a bitter resentment entered her mind and she wondered once again.. did her father blame her that her Mother had died.. was it her fault? Was he disappointed in her and that was why he kept her hidden away, never letting her come to school or see him until Sir Nicholas had practically forced the issue. Why?
She silently wiped a sliding tear off of her face. Pull it together Celestina. She told herself, reaching into her bag for her Muggle studies homework and her Potions and Transfiguration as well.. that was all she had to do. Through the week she'd amassed quite a bit of homework, but it didn't bother her. The load was much less than what she experienced with Sir Nicholas, and it was also less strenuous.. she knew how to do this stuff already.. especially the Transfiguration... but she loved Hogwarts, even if the lessons were easy. She was relieved, having thought she might be behind her new classmates.. but she wasn't..
She decided to do the muggle studies first.. Celestina was fascinated beyond belief by anything muggle because of her mother.. and the fact that Hogwarts offered a class all on muggles made her giddy - though she hadn't mentioned to her father that she'd signed up for it.. her Mum was a taboo subject with him.. they'd never talked about Elise and all Celestina knew was what she'd learned from her Godparents.
She focused on the first question, this lesson was about Muggle fashion.. also right up Celestina's alley.. she loved fashionable and pretty things.. though she wasn't a fanatic.. She had just put quill to paper when she heard footsteps in the grass near her.. She looked up to see if someone was there..

Remus liked the outdoors. He had confessed it Sirius once, who had told him that it was to be expected. According to his friend, that was the beast inside him talking. Remus doubted that there really was a 'beast' in him. He didn't even think himself too vicious a werewolf, he'd probably be eaten alive by the wild ones in the great wide world.
It was a nice day out, a good way to end a very long week. It had seemed never ending to the 15 year old Gryffindor. He was getting restless in the quiet days of classes, a result of time spent with his friends, most likely.
Under a nearby tree, he spotted a girl he had seen around school. She was in his house. Celestina, Lily had said, was her name. She was writing, maybe doing school work, something that most students left to Sunday night. He approached her and she looked up at the soft sound of his feet in the grass.
"Business or pleasure?" he asked.

Celestina looked up as she heard the voice. It was a nice one.. rich.. almost like honey.. but not sickeningly sweet..just rich and full and.. nice. Celestina looked up to see a brown haired, amber eyed boy standing in front of her. She'd seen him around school several times in the last week since they'd returned to school and she'd come for the first time.
She knew this particular boy because he was a fourth of the group that ran around calling themselves The Marauders. However, during the little escapade in Transfiguration on Tuesday, he hadn't participated.. or she didn't think he had. It was hard to tell considering it had taken her about an hour to realize people's stares were coming from the fact her hair was all inky in the first place... did this mean that he was safe? That he was nice.. She would chance it- he looked nice.
"Um..a little bit of both." She said, looking up. She moved her books so he could sit down if he wanted. "Um.. hi there.. my name's Celestina." She said. The was a hint of her French acccent, but she did her best to keep it hidden and was relatively successful.

Remus sat down cross legged opposite from her. He looked at her parchment. Muggle studies? Interesting. Remus glanced back at her face. She was pretty, in a soft kind of way and she smelled nice, something only his wolf senses might have picked up on.
"Remus Lupin." he introduced, placing one elbow on each knee and folding his hands under his chin. He thought he might be missing something about her...
Oh, yes...the ink. Remus was always the behind the scenes operator. He had found that particular charm in the library and had learned it with James and Sirius in the dorms. They were the ones who had cast it, but he still felt a little guilty.
"Sorry about the ink. We were just..." he paused, "I really have no excuse. Just...sorry."

She smiled and nodded, "Mm hm.. " she said, showing him what she was working on. "It's muggle fashion." She said simply. "Wait... you're in that class..." She said remembering suddenly. They had to make profiles of mens, womens, and children's fashion and make collages out of them. She was trying to make a list of magazines and periodicals she might be able to get for good pictures. She had found the first one she was going to use quite easily. "What do you think of this?" She asked, holding up a copy of a picture she'd had for a very long time.. it was in the photobook that Perenelle had given her, along with the locket. The only things left from her Mum.. the locket.. and her Mum's photobook. It had autographs from all the dancers in her company from the lowliest premiere classe all the way up to Elise herself, who had been the Prima Ballerina.. the star.. Celestina had conjured a copy of the picture to use in her collage so she didn't use her original copy. However, Remus didn't have to know the picture meant anything special to her.. "Yeah.. the ink." She said, still looking at the picture. "It's fine.. really.. " She wasn't sure what made her say it. "I mean.. apparently you and the other Marauders are sort of legends or something as I was so kindly informed today.. and that you do it to everyone so I should get over it.." She looked up at him, brushing her hair from her eyes. "I just... felt bad because I looked dumb on my first day of classes." She admitted, not sure what made her admit such a secret to someone she'd just met a few moments before... they had an odd sort of connection she couldn't place yet.. she felt safe around him.. like she could tell him this close to her heart secret.. that she didn't have a lot of self confidence lately.. and that he wouldn't laugh.

He had been planning on doing the muggle studies collage the next day. He would going to write to his cousin, who had snapped his wand and gone off to live with muggles, to have him send some magazines to Hogwarts. Remus looked at the picture she held out. It was a dancer. He smiled politely.
"It's a very nice picture." Remus said. He really couldn't think of something else to say about the picture. He knew nothing of dance.
His guilt increased when she said it had been her first day. He had hoped it might have been her second and he had simply not noticed her. Which was bad too, but it would have made the prank a bit better.
"I feel bad about it." He was said to be the only Marauder with a conscious. He thought for a minute about what he could do.
"I'll put you on the list." he promised, "We have a list of people not to go after and people who are asking for inky hair. I'll put you on the off limits list."

Celestina nodded and put it aside, "Yeah.. it's the only thing I have for the collage so far though." She said. "I'll have to hunt some magazines." She said, leaning backwards to rest on her hands out behind her and seeming happy and even somewhat relaxed.
She looked up at him.. "Oh no.. you don't have to do that.. I have absolutely no problem with playing tricks on someone you know.." She said with a bit of a smirk. What was more on her mind was the idea that now that James had played a prank on her... he was completely fair game for getting one right back from her... Celestina rarely played pranks on people.. but when she did... they were garuanteed to be good ones..
"So.. don't feel bad.. it's alright.. I lived.." She said with a small smile, looking up into his eyes for a brief moment.

He smiled at her response. Putting her on the list would have been a long process anyway. People going on the list needed approval of all Marauders. It was a full out trial to get on that list. He hoped that when she got back at them, she go them good.
"Careful, Sirius and James are the types to start a full blown war." he warned. She seemed like she could take care of herself, if that was the case.
"So, new student huh?" he asked, "How do you like it here?"
He was a die hard Hogwarts fan. Remus considered himself lucky to be at the school and counted his blessings everyday. That was something most students took for granted.

She seemed to read his expression.. "Oh believe me.. if they think they're going to ink my hair and just get away with it.. they're dead wrong." She said simply, but with a smirk. "But um.. all the same.. thanks.. for the warning." She said, offering him a sweet smile.
She nodded, "Yes.. and.. I really like it.. it's a lot different from where I went to school before." She said. "But that's part of what's so nice about it.. and getting to meet all the professors and other students." She said. "I'm really lucky to be here." She said simply, knowing it was true especially if her father had had his way.

Remus nodded knowingly. The school had great professors and students, if you weren't counting the Slytherins. He never included them in his opinions anyway.
"I know what you mean." he said wistfully. He regretted it after he said it. She might ask why he would be lucky to be here and then he would have to lie. He really did hate lying to people, even if he was becoming rather good at it. He hastily changed the subject.
"So, who have you met so far? I suppose you could count being pranked as meeting James and Sirius. Anyone else?"

Celestina smiled a bit, then a sort of pensive look passed her face when he said he knew what she meant.. silently she catalogued this information into the back of her mind. She wasn't sure why that stood out to her.. oh well.. it wasn't really important was it?
"I met someone named Emmeline Vance.. I um.. I don't think I'm her type.. she seemed to take it personally offensive that I was upset with Sirius and James.. It's a good thing I didn't mention to her I'm planning to bring the two of them down a couple of notches. She'd have been really mad."

Remus grinned brightly at her. Emmeline had met her? He would have to ask her later what she thought of this new student.
"You've met Em?" he laughed, "She's great, isn't she? I love her to death."
He and Em had been friends for a while now. They were very close, but Remus had never felt the need to burden her with his secret.
"She's just good friends with James and Sirius, that's all. You want an alliance against them, go see Lily Evans."

Celestina raised an eyebrow, "Mm.. She never mentioned that she hated them... although.. in the Great Hall the other day.. when she saw them coming she practically dragged me out of there so she wouldn't have to talk to either of them." She said with somewhat of a sigh. All of this school/people/relationship thing was confusing.. before life had been simple... there were three of them.. Herself, Perenelle, and Sir Nicholas.. they were her entire world.. and they were all she needed.. now there was an onslaught of people who all had different lives and feelings and relationships with each other..
"Yeah.. I met her.. but like I said.. I honestly think she hates me." Celestina shrugged slightly and focused her eyes on the grass. She picked a stem and laid back looking up into the leaves of the trees and made the stem whistle between her teeth, just like she'd learned to do as a little girl.
"So um.. tell me about you..?" Celestina asked him curiously.

Remus was sure that Emmeline didn't hate her. In fact, he would ask her the next time they met. If Emmeline spent more time with her, they might be friends. He had better not push it though.
"Me? Remus Lupin, Marauder. I like reading, sleeping and being with my friends, gits that they are." He added with a laugh, "Every month I visit my mother, who is sick and living in northern England with her family. My father stays in London to do business. Anything else or is it safe for me to ask about you?"

Celestina smiled as she turned over onto her side so she could look at him while talking to him.. keeping eye contact with the person you were talking to was always important wasn't it?
"I like reading and sleeping too." She said with a soft giggle, "Very nice way to go to sleep with a good book curled up in front of the fire..." She shivered happily. "I came from France, I went to private school." - Very private... only one student. she thought to herself.. Really how did she become so good at lying these days?
"Um.. I love playing Quidditch.. and watching it.. I'm sort of thinking about going out for the team.. I heard they need a seeker.. and um.. that's why I happen to be.." She paused thinking, "I like mysteries.. solving things you have to figure out.. and I love meeting new people and learning new things." She said with a smile.
She paused, wondering if she should talk about this... "I'm sorry about your Mum... I'm a bit of a hand at healing." She said, thinking about her phoenix tears.. "Do you think there's a chance I might be able to help her?"
