Remus had never been to a private school. He was supposed to attend a muggle boarding school until he turned eleven, but the plans changed when he was bitten. His parents enrolled him in a day school and he was required to feign sickness as a way to hide his common absences.
"That sounds interesting. I've never been to France and I know about three words in the language." he smiled, "Seeker? I would have guessed that. I don't play any Quidditch, but my mates do."
She liked solving things? He would have to be careful around her. If James and Sirius could figure it out, surely she could just as easily. To Remus, the smaller the number of people who knew, the safer they were.

Celestina smiled, "France.. I think it's the most beautiful place in all the world.. except possibly Hogwarts.. the weather is very nice, especially in the southern part.. warm and such.." She paused then smiled, "As for the language, it depends on what ones you know how easy it is to learn.. All European languages.. Latin, Spanish.. they're based on the same rules.. such as that each verb has a conjugation for the different forms and each noun has a gender.. masculine or feminine.. English, however, it's completely different.. so learning a European language is harder.. I got lucky because I sort of just.. came out bilingual.. when I learned to talk it was just a mixture of both languages.. However, it's certainly possible to learn." She said with a smile. "If you ever want to.. I could help." She offered a bit shyly.
She was quiet for several moments, looking up at the deep blue sky through the swaying branches of the tree overhead. "Mm.. so I've heard.. apparently James is one of the best Chasers the the Gryffindor Team has ever seen." She paused, letting the surprise that she'd known this register. "I've done my homework." She said simply.
She looked over at him and smiled, running her fingers through the grass. "I love being outside.. especially when it's nice weather like this.. Coming out in the middle of the night and watching the stars.. I'd sneak out just for that." She murmured dreamily.

So she was smart, too. Remus smiled softly at her as she described the basics of the romance languages. She could have easily been a Ravenclaw. He wasn't sure if he was up for learning a second language. What if she suggested that they work on a full moon. He'd make an excuse, she'd get suspicious and the lie about his mother would fall through. He struggled with a decision for a moment.
"Sure. That would be fun." he said with a nod. It couldn't hurt. Maybe she wouldn't notice the moon or the absences. It would be chance that she pick that night anyway.
"Outside is the best. It makes you feel alive. I have no idea why man kind built houses, we were meant to be in nature." That might be the 'beast' again, "Next time you want to go star gazing let me know. I'll sneak out with you."

Celestina seemed to be thinking along the same lines as he was as she smiled at him, "The hat thought about putting me in Ravenclaw, actually." She said, not mentioning that she'd begged the hat not to do that.. feeling the compulsive need to protect her father for some reason.
"That would be fun.." She smiled more at him, unable to hold her happiness in suddenly... "Here's an easy one to start you out.. Mon Ami.. it means, my friend." She said with a smile. "Ami is spelled ami if you are talking to someone who is a guy.. if you're talking to someone who is a girl it's spelled Ami and the Mon changes to Ma because it has to agree.. adjectives and nouns have to agree in gender.. so Mon is the masculine form.. and Ma is the femine form of My." She said with a smile. "So.. Mon Ami.. roughly means.. my..." She practically choked.. "Boyfriend.." She said, her face going red... Merlin Celestina.. shut up while you're ahead! "Or well.. my male friend anyway." She said coughing some more as her face still got rather more pink.
Quickly she changed the subject. "Outside is the best..." And then when he said he'd sneak out with her.. her heart flipped over.. and she suddenly felt like the world went upside down.. Who turned the world upside down? and how? she wondered to herself.
"There's supposed to be a really nice meteor shower tonight.. I've been watching the charts.. that's why I mentioned I'd sneak out.. I've been planning to tonight.." She said.

Remus quirked a grin at her as she fumbled over her words, flushing a deep red. He waited for her to finish, grinning wider each second. He catalogged the little french lesson, she might be offended if he didn't remember later.
"Friend who is a boy, huh?" he asked, "Gotcha. I'll remember that. So ma ami, mean my girlfriend? Friend who is female?"
He was only teasing a little so he really didn't feel too bad about it.
"Meteor shower. What is it tonight, half moon? Or one quarter?" he slipped the question in casually, like the moon didn't matter. The full moon had been a week or so ago. "Sounds like fun. We'd better be careful not to get caught by Filch. He started threatening us with medieval torture last week. You might get off with just a detention, though."

Celestina, of course, turned even more red as she nodded, "Oui... Ma amie is my girlfriend." She murmured, wondering what she had started here. "Oh.. and Oui.. it means yes.. and Non.. that means no." She said.
Celestina sat up with a smile, "You're interested in lunar cycles too?" She asked in disbelief. She wondered silently if someone had just somehow swooped down and created a boy this similar to her and arranged for them to meet on purpose or not. "I learned to track all the cycles and eclipses and such when I was younger.. I used to chart the lunar cycles every single month.. I'm getting lazier now though.. I don't do it so much.. Other things to stay now.. like O.W.L's for instance... but.. I think tonight's a quarter moon.. and next week is the new moon.. then two more weeks it wxes. .goes back to full moon and the cycle starts all over again." She said with a smile.

Remus dragged his fingers through his hair, a subconscious action he had most likely picked up from James. He'd have to hex him later, it really was a terrible habit. He looked up at the sky. It would figure that she would have an unusual knowledge of lunar cycles. He'd have to watch out even more.
"I just sort of noticed it a few nights ago. I think half moons are the best, so I wanted to know if we'd see one tonight. Lucky for me, you're my walking lunar calender."
Good, Remus, act like the moon isn't a big deal. Casual. He told himself, Change the subject, quick!
"What time are we sneaking out?"

She chuckled, "Mm.. I think we just missed it by a bit, but.. next month there'll be another one.. " She said, sitting up.. "That's one of the great things about the moon.. it's constant.. sure.. it changes.. but every month it always goes through the same cycle.. and nothing will change that... it's a constant in our world of craziness." Celestina said with a smile.
"So .. you are going to come with me then?" She smiled, eleven o'clock is when it's supposed to start.. so maybe about ten 'til to give us plenty of time.. I have a telescope so we can use it.. earlier I discovered this little.. cove.. a bend in the lake that's all surrounded in by trees.. if we go in there.. Filch won't find us.. neither will anyone else.. you have to crawl through underbrush to even find it.. but it's very pretty." She said. "It'll do for a good place to watch and hide."

A constant. Oh yes that's exactly what it was. A constant reminder of what he was. A constant reminder that he could never be normal. Never be human.
"Constant...yea." he muttered.
She seemed excited that he would go with her. He was looking forward to it. She seemed to be someone he could get along with. They were having a good start, anyway.
"Yeah, I'm coming." The cove she described had probably been wandered through on a Marauder outing, but he couldn't be sure.
"It isn't being outside that I think we'll get caught. It's going in and out of the castle. Have you met Mrs. Norris?"

Celestina smiled a bit mischievously. "Um.. yes.. unfortunately.. I met her on Wednesday evening when I attempted to go exploring around the castle. I had to abandon my wandering and go back to my dorm rather quickly. Tonight, though, I'm not taking any chances.. " she said simply with a smile.
"Yes... I've met Mrs. Norris.. and so has a rather strong sleeping drought." Celestina said with an innocent smile. "Oh!.. don't worry.. I promise it won't hurt her.. I love animals, especially cats.. I'd never do anything to hurt one.. she'll simply sleep for several hours and then wake up. It should last about twelve hours." Celestina said with a smile. "She'll get a nice sleep wherever she's curled up and we'll be able to leave the castle without the chance that she'll run and get Filch."

Mrs Norris had had it out for Remus since he got here. He thought it might be because she could smell the wolf side of him and a wolf was the cousin of a dog. He avoided her all he could, but she always found him anyway.
"Sleeping draught? Clever, thinking ahead like that." Remus nodded. He was glad that she seemed to have an adventurous side to her. Books and only books could make life a little dull, a leasson he'd learned from his fellow Marauders.
"Excellent. Before we go, we'll have to swing by the kitchens, grab some food. I don't suppose you've had much of a chance to explore the castle at all, have you?"

Celestina smiled a bit, "Mm.. a bit clever I suppose.. but.. if you're going to do something.. might as well do it all the way." She said with a smile, referring to the sneaking out.
Celestina looked over at him, "Now that you mention it.. no.. I haven't gotten to do very much exploring at all." She said. "Can you actually.. you know.. go to the kitchens and get food just like that?"

Remus grinned. Could they? That was a very good question, one that he had adked himself at least once or twice in the past few years. It came up all the time. Could they be illegal animagus? Could they make a map of the school?
"Can we, yes. We are very much capable of it. Are we allowed to...not so much. But it doesn't matter, it isn't like anyone ever gets caught. We go down there quite often." he assured her. She might like the house elves, they were all very nice little creatures.
"It'll be an adventure, I promise."

Celestina sat up in the grass and smiled at him, leaning back on her hands as she looked at him sitting there beside her in the grass. This made her heart hammer even harder than it had been before. There was no slowing down. It was as if her body had only two speeds right now.. fast.. and faster.. but she didn't mind so much.. for now..
She smiled as he told her that they could even though they weren't, technically speaking, supposed to...
And then, she did the most impulsive, crazy thing she'd ever done in her entire life. when he said that it would be an adventure, she reached over and tentatively put her hand on top of his.. "I'd go on an adventure with you any day, Remus." She said, feeling her face go rather red.

She placed her hand ontop of his and his heart lurched. He was about to smile, when he realized what he was doing. He couldn't. She was too nice to have to deal with it. He was too dangerous. He cursed himself for letting this happen. It had been his own fault. He'd let his guard down, let himself think she was wonderful and now he had no idea what next.
Just a friendly gesture he told himself. He forced a smile.
"Excellent. We, the Marauders, are very keen on adventure. You'll fit in with everyone in Gryffindor fine." he said. What a mess this was becoming.
