There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong
It was another dark night in the grounds of Hogwart’s Castle as Luna Lovegood prowled the corridors, feeling the faint stirrings in her stomach, she knew something was wrong but she didn’t want to think about what it was. Having taken the test a few days ago she was horrified when it came out positive. She was pregnant with a Professor’s child, a Professor whom she believed she was in love with. It was then that the father of her child appeared in front of her with a smile flicking his features. “Good evening Luna.”When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong
“Good evening Professor.”
“It’s James Luna, you know that.”
“Ok… James…”
“That’s better… There’s something I need you to do for me.”
“I’d do anything for you.”
“I want you to help me cast a charm.” He led her down a corridor and then down another until she found herself in a chamber she hadn’t ever been in. He pushed a book into her hand and she looked down at it in surprise. “If you get this right Luna Harry Potter will no longer be any problem.” Now the old Luna would have ran away at the thought of hurting another human being but over the summer she had hardened, her father dying had made certain of that. Her heart had frozen and James (and her best friend Ginny) were the only two people she cared about in the world. That was why she agreed to perform the charm, no matter who got hurt in the process. Ginny would be better off without Harry. The world would be better off without Harry so why should she refuse the father of her child the only thing he had ever asked for. So standing over the cauldron she pricked her finger and let the blood drip into the cauldron before her. Fresh mother’s blood and a sprig of holly and the charm was complete. But something went wrong… Something went terribly wrong…
I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted
Albus Dumbledore swept his eye over the crowd before him and smiled. There was Lily and James rubbing her stomach, Molly and Arthur with their little boy cradled in their arms and another on the way. Alice and Frank talking to her tummy. Everyone was there and so he coughed to gain the attention of the room. The Order of The Phoenix was still fighting strong and they knew the war would soon end. “Welcome my friends! We are here to discuss…” It was then that it happened. A sickly smell broke into the room and everyone began to cough and splutter, everyone’s ears were ringing and then the world went black as the night surrounding them…When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted
Lord Voldemort glared around the room and shouted for attention. He knew that Narcissa and Lucius were with child but that was no excuse for them to be distracted from the job in hand. He looked to Bellatrix and Rodolphus standing there silently and began to speak. “I am appalled by the sheer lack of commitment that some of you are showing. It’s a disgrace…” It was then that it happened. A sickly smell broke into the room and everyone began to cough and splutter, everyone’s ears were ringing and then the world went black as the night surrounding them…
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame
He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came
Ginny felt her head begin to ache and fell backwards into a chair. The voice cooing in her ear was getting annoying and she was beginning to think she was going insane. It was almost as if someone else had decided to reside in her body and was taking over at certain points. She was doing her best to forget the black outs and the tortured dreams but they hung in front of her like a mist all the time. Visions of death and despair. She shook her head to clear it and marvelled as the ache disappeared as quickly as it appeared. Little did Ginny Weasley know what was truly living inside her? A sliver of Voldemort’s soul. The last horcrux was she and she didn’t know a thing about it. She sat up when she heard someone enter the Common Room. Glancing up she saw it was Harry and sighed heavily, that was a scar yet to heal so she had deliberately avoided him, but that night was cursed to be different. “Ginny… We need to talk…”With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame
He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came
“No Harry… We really don’t,” despite her cold tone he sat down on the arm of her chair and looked down at her fiery face. “I think we do. Why have you been avoiding me?”
“I’ve not been,” she lied.
“Yes you have.”
“Well maybe I just don’t want to be around you since you broke my heart again!”
“Ginny I…” He was about to admit that he loved her and wanted her back but then something strange occurred. A voice rang from the corner of the Common Room. One Harry had only ever heard in memories when Death Eaters drew too near. “I don’t think this is right…” Harry and Ginny both spun their heads to behold Lily and James Potter standing before them…
And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
Ron and Hermione were once more having an argument. Having been made Head Boy and Girl they were made to spend even more time together and the tension was growing. Both fiercely attracted to the other and still unwilling to admit it the rows were only getting worse. “Ron! I can’t believe you!”That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
“Oh for once lay off Hermione!” The argument would have gone on and on had not both of them been shocked to attention by the sight of Alice and Frank Longbottom appearing before them.
Screams of confusion and fear ran through the halls of Hogwart’s Castle as the students tried desperately to come to terms with the fact they were looking at their parents, all aged around 21 and some of them pregnant with them. During all this Luna stood in that chamber and realised that James had once more left her alone in the dark.
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed.
The world has been torn apart and nothing is how it seems. No one can be trusted and everything is to play for in these…So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed.
