Skylar is, what you would call, a natural beauty. She looks like a carbon copy of her mother. She has natural grace, that seems to ooze out of every move she makes. Her body is lean and tall, her arms and legs slender and poised. Her curves are flattering, but not too ‘curvy’. She loves her body, and wouldn’t change a thing. Not her lightly tanned skin, or her small nose. She’s comfortable in her own skin, but doesn’t ‘show off’.

Crazy? Sure. That would probably be the word that springs to most people's lips when they think of Miss Skylar James. Yes, she does hum to herself during classes and doodles all over the tables in languages that probably aren't real - and yes, she does love pirates and is teaching herself to speak German and is always carting around that book on yoga and contorting herself into the funniest shapes! But that doesn't make her insane, it makes her unique. Following her own path is who Skylar is. She isn't really affected by other people and what their opinons on her are - in fact, when they mutter 'she's mad!' behind her back she'll laugh and wave and say yeah, she probably is. If one sits down and talks to her, she is quite normal! Very sarcastic and a little odd, sure, but a normal teenage girl who likes cookies and is hyped up on coffee every second of the day and likes to flirt with boys. What's so wrong about getting lost in other worlds once in a while?
Skylar has always been fascinated with being something that maybe does exist, but only in the books and her mind and the past. So she likes to pretend that she's a pirate fighting for her life on a ship in the middle of a tumultulous ocean - that she's Scarlett O'Hara, heart broken by Rhett Butler. That she lives in a jungle, that she's a fish - you get the drift, right? There's nothing wrong with her. It's just how she is. Her quirks are perfectly normal in her mind - what's so wrong with loving Germany and wanting to know how to speak the language? In fact, Skylar would love to teach you, as well. She loves having new friends and will strike up a conversation with anybody, really! Over a cup of coffee and a really good sugar cookie, one will listen to Skylar chatter with passion about what she's doing at the moment. And one will realize that maybe she's living more than anyone else at this school. Because Skylar isn't going to waste her life away, especially the good years. When she's young and beautiful and can hop around in a pool with a styrofoam noodle and pretend that it's a sword. How can one not love this girl? She doesn't try to be what you want, she just tries to make it be what you want. You know you love her, darlings. And yeah, she loves you back.
In all reality? This Hufflepuff doesn't have many enemies. I mean, sure, Slytherins don't like her because of her house. And Ravenclaws tend to think she's airy-fairy and an idiot for all of the imagination she has in her head. But she doesn't hate them back. And she is not an idiot. In fact, Skylar is quite the smart little chick. She studies often and gets high marks on all of her exams and essays - she enjoys smirking in people's faces when they call her stupid because hah, she so is not. In fact, she's probably smarter than them. Okay, so maybe Skylar isn't a big fan of people who think they're SO AWESOME just because they study all the freaking time and get good grades. She gets them without the hassle of poring over books every second! Reading, though, is a favored hobby of Skylar's. Mostly literature. She also loves movies and television, though she doesn't get much of that during the school year - only when she goes home on breaks. Skylar's mother, Elizabeth, was Muggle born and raised her daughter in a sort of mixed culture - Muggle and wizarding. Her mother, wise woman that she is, also taught her to treat everyone with respect. Skylar is the type who is nice to everyone, even if she doesn't like them all that much.
Rather cool-headed, sometimes some think that she doesn't have a reaction to their comments. Very stubborn, Skylar tends to think that her views are always right. One other downfall? Skylar is more gullible than anyone you will ever meet. You could tell her that aliens abducted you and she would be starry-eyed and ask you what it was like on Mars. Okay, maybe not that gullible, but you get the drift. How could you not adore this girl? I simply do not know. Boys seem to like her for her appearance, but are intimidated by her smarts and...imagination. She tends to hate everyone who likes her, anyway. She's not sure why. It just...ends up that way.

Personal History: Single motherhood? Not all it's cracked up to be, but Skylar doesn't think her mother has that much of a problem with it. Elizabeth was sixteen when she got pregnant with Alexander Hart's child - he was the famed player of Hogwarts who had fallen for Elizabeth with one look at her. It was a complete scandal at the school - many professor's still know of Skylar as 'the winter ball baby' because that's supposedly when she was conceived. Shock! Horror! Disaster! Elizabeth attended school for as long as she could but never went back for her seventh year of school, because Skylar was born three days before term started and the girl could barely walk. Her father forfeited rights of custody when he stopped talking to Elizabeth for that year. They later regained contact, and Skylar sees him every so often, owls him about once a week. It's very civil.
As a young girl, Skylar always knew that she was a witch. Her mother used magic all the time, after she was legal and had moved out of her parent's house. They lived in a tiny little house right outside of Hogsmeade, and Skylar sometimes goes to see her on visits to the village. She could see the castle of Hogwarts from her window as a girl - she dreamed of going there and being the smartest girl there. Her mother couldn't have raised her better, in Skylar's opinion. The two were as close as a mother and daughter could be - more like friends, before mom and kid. Of course, Elizabeth loved how imaginitive her daughter was and encouraged it. They always dreamed that Skylar would be a famous writer someday, and they would live in a big mansion and have gorgeous poolboys fanning them all the time (okay, that was more Elizabeth's fantasy than Skylar's). The day that Skylar received her Hogwarts letter was the happiest day of her life. Of course, it was a little weird that she didn't have to take the Hogwarts Express with the rest of her first-year buddies - she simply met them at the lake and got into a boat with a few girls and marvelled that she was actually going.
Maybe that was what solidified her reputation at Hogwarts. Teachers knew her from her last name - her mother had been famous! Not as strange as this girl was, though. Some teachers liked her quirks, some still don't get it. Some students still don't like her, but most are used to it by now and simply giggle at her and go along with her bits. Because it's hard not to like Skylar. She's just...nice. You can't argue that fact.
