Not wearing her school robes or the Gryffindor house colors, as she hates the color red. A tall, lean figure emerged from the great oak doors and into the courtyard. Her long brown hair flowing down her shoulders in pigtails and she was dressed in muggle clothing. Blowing some strands out of her hair, she made her way through the courtyard until she found a tree that seemed to be casting enough shade for her liking.
Placing the cover she was carrying in her arms, down on the ground underneath it, Ariana Finnigan made herself nice in comfortable up against the tree. She leaned her head back, softly closing her eyes, as the sunset infront of her. It was going into the after hour, since it was of course already after dinner. Ariana hummed softly to herself, she was greatly bored. Though if she would have gone and stayed in the common room she would have gone simply insane.
Ariana didn't have to many people to talk to these days. She had be-friended a 7th year, last year, whom had now left Hogwarts. She didn't have no friends that she could turn and talk to, if she really needed them and lately she was starting to relize she didn't, since lately all Hogwarts was, was drama. Opening her eyes lightly, she looked out through the sky, the sun had offically set down behind the mountains and the moon was completely visiable in the night. The sky was so clear, it made Ariana excited to know that she could spend a peaceful night, just staring at the stars.

The day had somehow passed very quickly, although it had been filled with classes as usual. They had all been boring too, which wasn't out of the ordinary. Maybe something had been put in Sirius' food that morning. Sort of like an expirement to make the laziest students in the school try harder. He was a couch potatoe when it came to homework and classwork, and he strongly doubted that even a potion would have been able to change that. Sirius hadn't pulled a prank in nearly a week and the whole time he had been restless. It seemed like James was too caught up in finally catching Lily's eye [in a romantic light of course, he had already done that by her annoying her], Remus was perhaps too involved in his furry little problem [which was understandable], and Peter... well, Sirius was probably the least closest to him of all the marauders. Sometimes the sight of Peter disgusted him, just because sometimes he could be so slow and pathetic. Seriously, they just let him tag along behind them out of pity. That boy had no friends and people like that, made them angry, because they weren't really all that hard to make. Not even for the most anti-social of people.
Dinner had just finished and it had been a scrumptious one at that. As usual, Sirius had filled with his plate to the brim and had ate his fill. He always had a big appetite, but managed to keep his skinny, but muscled figure. He knew it had to do with genes and he could guess that was the one thing he had his parents to thank for. That, and learning what not to do in a family. Sirius grimaced as he thought about them. It sometimes a bit hard seeing Regulus around the castle, although he would never miss that. Sirius doubted that they would ever see eye to eye, not with Regulus' mind brainwashed by his parents, but they were still brothers, still blood. He didn't hold that philosophy with his parents, but they were already lost to evil. Sometimes he still hoped that there was a chance for Regulus, that maybe something would change him. That for once, Sirius could actually have a brother. Sighing, he continued on his walk through Hogwarts' grounds. Sirius spotted Ariana Finnigan. Sirius knew who she was and had talked to her before, but that was about it. There was no real friendship there, but perhaps that could change? Not that he had any objections against it, anyways. He sauntered up to her, greeting her with a simple, "Hey." Smiling a little, Sirius hoped that she could see him because it was steadily getting darker outside. Soon it would be pitch dark and it would be easy to mistake any single thing for anything. That was what happened in darkness, you were always decieved. It was probably why it was compared to evil. Evil was mixed with so many lies and deception, he had learned that the hard way among his family. [/size][/blockquote]

Freezing in her position, Ariana listening closely. She could her someone come out of the castle and joined her in the abandoned courtyard. Though she tried to pay no attention at all, she couldn't help but listen to the person walk closer and closer. Ariana figured she would just sit there, maybe they will keep walking and not see her, maybe she could just play it off cool and be invisible, like she usually was. But this time, everything she wanted, was so not going to happen.
Hearing a semi-formaller voice speak up to her. Ariana didn't know who it was at first, because at the words of 'Hey' it could have just been about anyone. But slowly, she turned her head to look up at the figure, whom was quite tall compaired to her shortness on the ground. A small smlie fall upon her face as she glanced up at the boy. At first, Ari though her eyes where playing tricks on her, but they weren't. Then she just assumed it was someone who looked like him, but she was wrong.
Taking a deep breath, Ariana got a little nervous. Licking her lips, she smled, finally she managed to speak out. "Hello." she girnned. Trying to play it off as cool, as if she didn't know who he was that well and the truth was she didn't but she did, if that makes any sence. Grinning, she spoke out once again. "Sirius, isn't it?" She asked, trying to play it cool, making it seem as if she didn't really know how he was. Than again it was quite dark, so the dark could have been playing tricks on her, or so she wanted to believe that it was. Pushing the thoughts out of her mind, Ariana looked away from her. Her eyes scanned the empty courtyard, for any sign of Sirius' little friends. She automatically assume, that with him talking to her like this, that it was some little joke him and his little friends where going to pull on her or something. Ariana's eyes looked at the tree above her, maybe they where in the tree, going to put something in her hair? All these questioned filled her mind at once, it hurt her head a little bit. She rubbed her temple, before turning her look back to Sirius. Everything Ariana wanted to believe was there, wasn't.

Ariana Finnagan was a mysterious girl. Sirius couldn't say for a single minute that he really knew what she was like. There was something enthralling about her, although he didn't think that he had ever had a normal conversation with her. Sirius was a guy who was normally surrounded by loads of other people and these days, it proved difficult to make friends with people who were wrapped in their own little shells. Ariana seemed like a perfectly nice person to him. She seemed pretty and intelligent as well. Sirius didn't know why she didn't have many friends, but he could guess that it must have had something to do with her shyness. He understood it a little bit, the attempts at trying to make yourself invisible from the world. Sirius had done it when he had been younger and his parents had made it known world wide that he was someone that they dissaproved of, and who only ever dissappointed them. His appearances at their little dinner parties were done as quickly as possible. He stepped out of the limelight and let his brother stand there. Sirius had come to Hogwarts and had been praised for his good looks, his intelligence, his wit, and the comical pranks that he had pulled with his friends. He had risen on the social ladder at Hogwarts very quickly and now, here he was.
The fifth year didn't know what Ariana thought about him, but he decided to take this night to find out. Sirius thought about how he should get to know some of the school's less noticeable people, who were so shy sometimes that most attention was turned towards them. He had never meant to pay more attention to people who were more popular, but somehow it seemed to have happened over the years. Sirius noticed however, that Ariana didn't seem to particulary mind his presence. The sold grin on her face seemed to prove the exact opposite and made him think that perhaps, there was a friendship blossoming her. Sirius didn't want to get ahead of himself, after all - he had just said his first words to her in a very long time, but you never knew. Besides, he liked to stay confident. It always helped him when trying to meet new people and get to know them. If they weren't willing to turn attention towards them, then Sirius had to be willing to. Ariana was perhaps unsure of who he was and that seemed to be apparent in her question towards him. Sirius nodded in her direction, suddenly realizing that his nod may have not been noticeable in the darkness. "Yea, that's me. Ariana, right?" He asked with a smile. Sirius had always made it a point to know everyone's names, but there were always a few that he forgot, he wasn't perfect after all. He was almost completely sure that he had gotten it righ in this case though. [/size][/blockquote]

Letting the smile remain on her face, Ariana watched on as Sirius stood there then spoke. It felt as though she was under some type of spell, she was like hypnotized listening to him speak. She probably looked like a complete idiot, with her eyes wide and a smile on her face. Shaking her head, she pushed the thought of what just happened out of her mind, Ariana was really losing her mind right now. Taking a deep breath, she waited before she answered him. "Yes." she spoke up. It wasn't like Ariana was going to go into a life story or anything, all he did was make sure that she was infact, Ariana, and she was sad to say she was. Letting a deep sigh slip out, she licked her lips out of nervousness and boredum.
Leaning back against the tree again, she tilted her head so she could look at Sirius as she spoke. Smiling, she crossed her arms across her chest. The smile faded. "You can sit if you like?" She spoke towards him, moving off a little bit, so he could sit on the cover instead of the ground. Though she spoke in a bit of a questioning tone. 'Maybe he prefers to stand. Maybe he doesn't want to sit or talk to someone like you. Maybe he just felt bad and decided to say hi, but idiot you wanted to make a conversation.' Where the thoughts that where running through her head like crazy. Ariana tried her hardest to get these thoughts to leave her mind, though it was quite hard. She thought of Sirius to be different, she thought of him to actually be one of those polite and pleasant guys that just did the pranks on the kids just to make himself look cool, but instead he was actually cool already. Ariana felt like a complete loser, having asked herself all these questions in her mind. 'Why on earth would someone like Sirius Black want to associate himself with someone like me? He wouldn't. He couldn't.' Where just some more thoughts that ran through Ariana's dipstick of a brain.
Finally, Ariana stop letting her thoughts get the best of her and spoke up again. "I mean, you don't have to if you don't want to." she added. She wanted this introduction to be nice and simple, she didn't want to make a complete fool of herself in just one night, infront of a guy that she had liked since first year and a guy that she found extremely attractive. Someone she thought had to be the best looking guy that his stepped foot into Hogwarts and has stepped foot into her pressence. Wow, was Ariana forever getting ahead of herself. She was letting her mind do all the work, letting it take control, letting it speak up, though not out loud, thank god.

It was odd, but Ariana looked completely happy for some reason. Almost like she was floating on air or something. Sirius was rather curious about why she was feeling this way, but since he didn't know her, he wasn't sure if he was allowed to ask. For now he figured that he'd leave it, at least for a bit anyways. It was never too long that Sirius Black could keep his mouth shut. He may have been a male, but that didn't mean that he didn't love gossip. Gossip was his friend, it was everybody's friend. Except for the ones that it hurt, but nevermind them now. Sirius was fascinated by watching Ariana. It seemed like her mood kept changing, one minute she was extremely joyous and the next she was sighing, and looking unhappy. Oh, Merlin. He couldn't hold it in any longer. "Are you okay?" He asked, a bit of concern edging into his voice. Sirius hoped that she wouldn't think that he was prying into her business. She hopefully knew that she didn't have to tell him anything if she didn't want to. It wasn't like he was holding his wand to her head and threatening her with one of the unforgiveable curses. No, that would just make Sirius end up in Askaban, a place he hoped to never have to venture into - even to visit someone else. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to," He assured her, nodding his head a bit. Sirius absolutely loathed when others forced others to do things. Everyone should have a choice as to what they should or shouldn't do.
A smile lifted onto his face when she asked him to sit with her. Ariana sounded unsure and he guessed that maybe he seemed a bit intimidating towards her. Sirius never tried to be someone that anyone would fear, unless they were talking about Snivellus, but anyways - he hoped that she would change her mind about him. He took a seat next to her, leaning against the back of the tree. He moved around a bit to make himself comfortable in his position because there seemed to be a little piece of bark that kept poking him in his back. Sirius didn't mind the outdoors at all, often it was a very comforting place for him to think, but there were always little aspects to it that irrated him - like this. Oh, well, hopefully it would stop soon. He turned his attention back towards Ariana, just in time to her saying something else. Sirius shook his head back and forth. Perhaps she was really intimidated by him and that was the last thing he wanted, especially the first time they had a proper conversation. "Of course I want to sit with you. Why wouldn't I?" Sirius protested, acting like he simply couldn't not sit. He didn't mind standing on some occasions, but then his legs would probably start aching, and he didn't want to have to leave because of that. Ariana seemed like perfect company and he always hated when a conversation was cut short, because of a stupid reason like that. Sirius understood that in order for Ariana to get over her shyness, he needed to make this as easy for her as possible. Seem friendly, nice, ask her questions in return... whatever it took, he was going to do it.

Guess you could say Ariana was a little on the nervous side as she watched Sirius. Her knees weren't bent infront of her, with her wand laying directly under them. Fiddling with her wand a bit, Ariana let a simple smile come across her face. Nothing was really wrong, but the fact a guy she had liked for so long as standing infront of her, being nice, and talking to her? It was just strange and unusual to her, then again he didn't know about the whole crush on him thing. 'Are you okay?' were the words that slipped from his mouth, but he backed it up with 'You don't have to tell me, if you don't want to.' Ariana couldn't help but smile a little bit. She just wished that she could let it all out, let everything she bottled up over the past 5 years slip out all in a matter of minutes. The conversation would end and Ariana would have probably scared off Sirius, to the point he would never be able to look at her or anything again. Taking a deep breath, she smiled looking at him. "I'm fine." She grinned, trying to make everything seem perfectly fine, trying to make the nervousness vanish. Damn her shyness, it always got her into these problems and boy did she ever have the worst time trying to get out of them. Shrugging all the thoughts about telling him and not telling him out of her mind, since Sirius knwe absolutely nothing about her, she figured a nice conversation to get to know one another alot more, then just first names.
Ariana waited a little bit, her eyes wondered about the empty and dark courtyard. But a simple smile came to her face as Sirius finally joined her on the blanket. Giggling at the site of him moving about, seemed like he was unable to get comfortable up against the tree. But it was the ending part of his answer that really got her going. 'Why wouldn't I?' Ariana could simply feel her cheeks go red. Thank goodness it was dark out, though she still looked away, making it seem as if she was looking at the moon, but really she was just looking away from him so he couldn't notice them in the moonlight. Ari could feel the speed of her heart go faster and faster. Okay, this was just way weird. How on earth was it that now, of all times, does Sirius notice her? Having tried so hard in the past to do so and it never worked. Why was it that on a night so beautiful, a night she had choosen to come out and sit out all night and just stare at the night sky. A night she wanted to spend alone, then again she did spend most nights like that. Smiling softly, the redness in her cheeks finally faded, before she finally looked back at Sirius. "Hmmm..." she trailed off in attempt to make conversation. "Because you never talk to me." she spoke up, looking away from him. "It is just quite unusual for someone to come out of the blue, in the night at that, to just come up and start talking." she told him, innocently. Ariana grinned a little bit. "And I always thought you found me annoying or something, because you never did." she shrugged. Ariana's eyes wondered back towards him. Trying her hardest to change the subject, she just blurted out whatever came to mind. "Its a beautiful night." She spoke out, then fastily looked away from Sirius. She felt even more stupid now that she was just speaking out randomly.
