The day had been quite boring so far. Lily Evans had spent most of her saturday starring at the red canopy the hung over her bed. There wasn't really much for her to do today. she had finished all her homework, studied for the upcomming tests and quizzes and cleaned her share of the dorm. Okay, so she maybe a bit boring right now, but hey, she liked to stay at the top of her classes.
With a small sigh, she pulled herself out of her bed and slipped on her jacket. She was going to go down to the lake. On her way to the door, she picked up her guitar and slung the strap over her shoulder.
As she stepped outside of the castle, the chill air carressed her pale cheeks and she smiled. She had always loved the cold. Finally, she reached the lake and sat under a tree. She then pulled her guitar on to her lap and began to play a soft melody.

Today had been a rather uneventful day, which for anyone who knew Sirius Black, would know that he'd percieve it as boring. He needed something exciting to happen. Perhaps someone blowing up a cauldron in Potions, two students getting into a fight, Professor Binns finally realizing that he was dead... whatever it was, Sirius was all for it. Maybe even enough so that he'd be willing to cause it himself. He had tried to at least, like blowing up a cauldron, but he had managed to pull it off so easily and had been too busy talking to James about how he really ought to stop blabbing about Lily, that he had forgotten about his plan. Sirius knew that he really needed to pull some pranks when he was thinking about blowing up a cauldron in Potions. He needed to do something action filled... so of course, what better than going into Filch's office and making him extremely pissed off? First Sirius had thrown a few dungbombs into his office and then had levitated water balloons, making them splash all around him. It had been pure brilliance and had made him collapse into fits of laughter. Sirius was quite obviously a genuis when it came to pranks and had left outside of Filch's office, extremely pleased with himself. All in a good day's work, it had been.
However it seemed like Filch was all too eager to catch the perpetrator. Many times had Sirius clashed with Filch and they had fought at each other's throats, so he had thought it best to lay low and keep his head down for a while. Sirius would have loved to flaunt what he had done in Filch's face, but he didn't feel like comparing detentions with James this week. He had decided to pull off many various pranks, without getting caught at all. He would do this the whole week and see whether he didn't get detention. Sirius knew that most people would automatically assume that it was him or James, but perhaps he could at least avoid getting a detention, or getting caught red handed. Right now though, he realized it was probably a good idea to go outside - as far away from Filch as possible. Sirius exited the castle and made his way out onto it's lawns, whistling merrily to himself. The day had surely took a turn for the best and now, he just planned to relax. Out of the corner of his eye, near the lake - he spotted a familiar head of red hair. Sirius recognized exactly who she was, the red head who actually made James Potter have trouble with finding the right words, in front of a girl, for the first time in his life. Sirius sauntered over towards her and once he had reached Lily, greeted her by saying, "Hey." A fairly normal and simple greeting, but Sirius didn't always feel like talking was what you needed. Sometimes some silence was good as well, so people could reflect over whatever they wanted to. Besides, maybe Lily had come over here to think, or something. What did he know, anyways? 'Some hearts They just get all the right breaks Some hearts have the stars on their side Some hearts, They just have it so easy Some hearts just get lucky sometimes Some hearts just get lucky, lucky sometimes
Now who'd have thought someone like you could love me You're the last thing my heart expected Who'd have thought I'd ever find somebody Someone who someone who makes me feel like this'
Her voice carried softly around the lake as she sung along with her guitar. It was a song she had heard severeal months ago on the radio at home. You see, Lily was quite good at learning to play songs just from listening to them. That's how fast she was. all of the songs she had leared, she didn't learn from sheet music, but rather from the wireless.
There was a break in her singing and she strummed a small solo with her guitar. She was about to begin to sing again when she heard a familiar voice and her face whent as red as her hair. Sirius. Had he heard her singing? Oh crap. No body knew about her hidden talent, and she intened on keeping it that way. she cleared her throat and looked up at him with a small, lopsided smile. "Uh... hi Sirius." she said quietly as she took the guitar starp off her shoulder and gently placed the instrument on the ground.

The breeze blew gently throughout the air, hitting Sirius' hair lightly, so that it appeared wind-blown and ruffled. He rather liked it that way, because it made him seem like he had been doing more than just sitting around. Sirius wasn't normally the lazy type and he liked going around, and getting something done - even if it was just pulling pranks, which to him was a huge deal. Sirius however sometimes was just like everyone else and liked to plop down on the couch in the Gryffindor common room, and relax. He couldn't see how something like that hurt. It was certainly more interesting and comforting than doing homework or even paying attention in class anyways. He did skip class from time to time. Sirius wasn't one of those people who put school high on their priorities, he just couldn't be. There was just so much more to life than that and he didn't want to spend his whole life focused on something, that would eventually be over. There would be a time when Sirius Black wouldn't have to think about school ever again, perhaps only if he ever settled down with a girl, and had children of his own. Something he didn't even want to think about right now. Hopefully he wouldn't have to in a very, very long time.
A shocked expression was thrown towards Lily as he heard her sing. Sirius loved music quite a lot and it was something that he often turned to for a little bit of comfort. Lily had an amazingly brilliant voice. It was sweet and melodius, but had a strong edge to it at the same time. There was a hint of huskyness to it as well, which made him want to love. A huge grin came across Sirius' face, followed his trademark smirk as he realized that Lily's singing probably wasn't common knowledge. In fact he was probably the first one to know and that... was just really amazing. Sirius turned towards her, but for once, tried not to be so cocky about this. "Nice singing, Evans," He complimented, referring to her by her last name. Sirius had a habit of doing that, not because he didn't like her, but because it was just the way he was. Sirius didn't mind her and flirted with her on occasion, but sometimes it was a bit hard to deal with how she treated James, like he didn't exist, when even he could sense the signs of love clearly in James' face whenever he was around her.

Lily leaned her head back on the tree. Yup, he had heard her. She looked at him when he commented her. She was happy he liked her singing, but her face was stern. "This doesn't leave your mouth under any circumstances, Black." she said quickly. Then, she let out a small sigh. " And thanks... I guess." she added after sitting for a minute or two in silence. Her gentle hands reached for her guitar which lay on the grass next to her hips and she ran her fingers smoothly across the chords.
She looked back up at him, a slightly smug expression on her face. "So where's Potter and Lupin?" she asked him. The three was almost always together, but for some reason, he was alone today, or so she thought. She glanced around him and looked up in the trees. "There not here are they? I'm going to have to murder James if he heard me-" She stopped in mid-sentence. Did she just call that rat Potter by his first name? That was weird.
She shook it off and quickly continued where she left off. "If he heard me sing. He'd probably go off and tell the whole school."

It was quite obvious that Lily wouldn't want him to tell anyone about her wonderful singing. Sirius had never gotten that, why when you were good at something, would you want to hide it? Of course he realized that when you just thought you weren't good at that very thing, well that made sense, but if people just kept telling you over and over again that you were, why would you listen to your inner insecurities? Sirius didn't have too much experience with this. His parents, his father especially had always told him and made it clear that he wasn't good enough, but he had never taken heed of their words. Sirius knew that Regulus was the special child, the one who would make them proud, but after coming to Hogwarts - where people seemed to worship the ground that he walked on, it was hard to be insecure and worry about what people really thought about him. Sirius had come to recognize over time that he was a good guy and that his was his parents who were the rotten, horrible ones. This was the reason that he understood that Lily didn't want anyone to know, because although he had never listened to his mind, Sirius had his moments where he felt like nothing, like he could never be good enough - and he could see where Lily's anxiety came from. Maybe he didn't completely understand it and never would, but in some way, he did. Although they weren't friends, it made him want to help her show the world that she was truly amazing at something else besides schoolwork and ignoring James. They were both splendid qualities, but you know, this was something that could take her even farther, if you asked him. "I won't tell a soul, Evans," Sirius promised her, smiling a little. Lily appeared so serious about him not telling anyone. What, did she think that James was going to fall even more in love with her if he told him this? Wait, actually he probably would... if that was even possible. Oh, dear. "Does anyone else know besides me?" Sirius asked, even though he was sure that he already had an answer to this question.
Eyeing her closely to make sure that she wasn't going to lie to him, Sirius narrowed his eyes a bit. He didn't want Lily to see him like a threat, like someone who would tell the whole world this information because he wouldn't. Sirius maybe could be a gossiper at times and loved to spread rumors about people, but even if Lily wasn't a friend, she was maybe a bit more than a complete annoyance in some ways. Sirius knew that she hated James with a passion at times and although he thought James' cause was hopeless, well if anything ever happened between them, he would like to be in her good side. Lily wasn't too bad anyways; she just needed to become less serious about schoolwork, and much looser in his opinion. A shrug was sent in her direction as Lily asked about his minions. Ooo, minions that was a good one... oh Merlin, now he was imagining them both with horns on their head. James really looked rather devilish. He'd have to tell his friend that sometime soon. "Nah, they're not here," Sirius replied cooly. Truth be told, he had no idea where either of them were. Maybe James was off daydreaming about Lily and Remus... well, what was that boy up to lately? He really had no idea, which was probably not such a good idea. "You know, somehow I doubt James would tell the whole school. I think he'd probably like you even more," Sirius replied quietly, diverting his eyes from her. He was sometimes uncomfortable with how ignorant Lily was of the way that James felt about her. Maybe James had been a retard about it all at first, but now, he had changed a lot - even Sirius had noticed that. Sirius just hoped that one day Lily would realize that and if he had something to do with that, well he certainly wouldn't complain. [/blockquote]

Lily looked at him, her face stern, but a pleeding look in her eyes. "Good." she said to him, her fingers idely resting on her guitar. "I'm trusting you..." she added softly. She really didn't want him to tell people. Including James and Remus. Singing was her secret passion, and the secret part of it was what made it fun. She let out a small sigh as the back of her head rested on the tree yet again. She only looked back up at him when he spoke. "Besides you? No." she said with a small shake of her head.
She was abotu to tense up a bit more when he said his little minions weren't around. "Thank God..." she muttered. "I don't think i'd be able to bare seeing him right now." she said refferring to James. "I'm already annoyed as it is..." her voice tralied off as she thought about him. Why did he annoy her so much? "Black," she said. "Why does he like to annoy me so much?" she said, echoing her thoughts.
