The Rules of the Marauders' Map
All the following rules must be followed. If you choose to not follow the rules, you will be banned. No exception.
All the following rules must be followed. If you choose to not follow the rules, you will be banned. No exception.
1. Respect everyone. I do not, and will not stand for, any rude comments on this site. [M] there will not be any fighting either. While in character, fighting is perfectly fine. But keep it in character!
2. Unexcused inactivity will not be tolerated. Activity is the most important thing to me. If you're going on vacation, or have a personal issue you need to attend to, let an administrator know by posting a thread in this board. Activity checks will be appointed randomly. I, along with everone else, want an active site.
3. No godmoding! Everyone hates having their character controled. All forms of it will not be tolerated! Godmoding is a term used in message board based role-playing games to describe two poor behaviours of players. Godmoding is almost always frowned upon by other members of the game, because it is regarded [r] as a form of cheating against the game's tacit rules.
Passive Godmoding
Godmoding can occur when a character describes an event or a series of events he or she has taken against another character or interactive object, most often with the purpose of rescinding negative effects previously encountered or granting some other effect inconsistent with an innocent view of the narrative. Godmoding is thus often used like a "Get Out of Jail Free card" when things don't go the way a player wants, rather than working with previously unfolded events. It is also used to describe the act of creating or playing with an invincible character or unbreakable armor, limitless power, etc.
Active Godmoding
Godmoding can also refer to the case where a player definitively describes the outcome of their own actions against another character or interactive object. For example, if player A states, "A strikes B and B takes damage", they could be considered to be godmoding. Another example of this might be where a character is facing multiple enemies, and they redirect one foe's attack onto another. For example, Player A states, "B misses A completely, and strikes C instead."
Similarly, controlling characters that belong to someone else is also a form of godmoding.
Player A: Character A punches Character B.
Player B: Character B dodges the attack, grabs Character A and throws him. Character A flies at Character B, who warps behind him and slashes Character A in the back.
4. Avatars, signitures, and other graphics. The avatar size limit is 100x100. Avatars should be of your character. The size limit on a signiture is 500x300. No lewd pictures may be displayed anywhere. [d] And I mean anywhere. In your application, if your picture is bigger than 600x400, you must place the link. If you need to know how to do so, please contact an admin.
5. Grammar! I ask you to please use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. It's hard; I know. [e] Though I ask you to atleast make an effort. If I can do it, you can too. Simple as that.
6. While on that subject, I also ask you to keep away from one liners. I would appreciate if you could have atleast one paragraph. Please note, a paragraph is six or more sentences. Should you find this difficult due to a museless rampage, you should try to keep away from one liners. [r] Talk about thoughts, details, history, anything. Just stay away from these...
Alexandria sighed. "You didn't have to try."
I would like to see...
Alexandria's eyes darted away from him, tears falling again. She closed her eyes and turned her head away. Walking around him, she went back to the couch. She swallowed her tears. Most of them anyway. "You didn't have to try," she whispered, though her voice was soft, the pain she felt seered through her voice like a heart shatter sob. She crossed her arms over her stomach as the tears fell faster. She looked a mess. Had anyone else saw her at this moment, they'd be stunned. Alex had always been the 'strong' one. The one who always knew what to do. The one who never cried. She literally looked like she was falling apart at the seams. And to Alex, it felt like she was.
7. Admins rule. End of story. What we say is final, and I must admit, we are pretty flexible. If we say no to something,
8. No Mary-Sue's! I cannot, and will not, take perfect characters. Everyone has atleast one flaw! If you're having an issue coming up with a flaw, ask someone! Do not make a perfect person. And at the same time, give your character believable talents and personalities. [*space*] I don't want to see a Gryffindor dating a Slytherin. I also don't want to find a Slytherin doing something like a favor for someone. It's not believable.
9. I would like to keep this clean, however, I realize that in some instances, sex is needed to build a character's [r] personal plot. So, I ask you to give a warning in the thread title if you're going to have a raunchy thread. Got it? Splendid!
10. Unforgivable curses are not allowed. If you feel they are completely necessary, contact an administrator and we'll discuss it over.
11. All posts will be in third-person to avoid any confusion. Okay? They must also be used in past tense. [l] While a character is talking and/or thinking is the only exception.
12. No 'netspeak' is to be used in character! It drives many, including myself, mental. [e!] Do you want me to go mental?
13. Until you prove you are an active member of this board, the limit on characters is two. Once you prove you can handle two characters, you will receive a PM saying you can have up to five characters. If you wish to have more, you must ask.
