James strolled up to the doorway of the transfiguration classroom as if he had all the time in the world. After all, he care very little whether or not he was on time. He took a glance at the seating chart posted on the doorway. The first thing that he noticed was that Remus was seated next to a girl that he had a crush on. He couldn't help but smirk at this. He turned to look through the door into the classroom, knowing that Remus was always early or at least on time, and sure enough saw him next to her looking flustered and nervous. "Good Luck with that one buddy" he muttered, laughing to himself.
He continued to chuckle as his eyes scanned the chart for his own name. The minute he saw it, he stopped laughing. Was this some kind of cruel joke? He was seated with a slytherin. Was is possible that McGonagall had not noticed the intense dislike that tended to pass between them. The only thing that made up for this sort of punishment was the fact that James had been seated at the desk next to Lily.
He took one last glance at the chart, to make sure that he wasn't seeing things. Then, with much less enthusiasm and self-satisfaction as he had had moments before, he grudgingly entered the room and made his way towards the 'seat of death.' Luckily, his deskmate wasn't there yet. He walked to the front of the room as if he were attending his own funeral, but then again, he might as well have been. Reaching his seat, he tossed his bookbag on top of the desk, making sure to take up way more space than just his own half. Then he seated himself in a reclined position, not even bothering to look at the board for the assignment. Though he was seriously irked by his seating partner, he couldn't lose his cool or let anyone see that he was flustered.

Celestina brushed a strand of her auburn hair out of her eyes and put her books down on the other side of the seat that she and Lily were sharing in Transfiguration that morning. Only a handful of people had arrived because it was early. However, this time Celestina was determined not to get close enough to bloody James Potter and his little buddies to give them another chance to ink her hair and put a sticking charm on it as they had done the previous lesson. Celestina felt there was something seriously misguided about a boy that would pull a trick on a girl he'd never even met before.. especially on her FIRST bloody day of classes at Hogwarts! Suddenly, she looked over to see James Potter himself. James, Remus, Sirius, and Peter.. the four of them always came in a group.. the Marauders they called themselves. Well, she could handle that just fine. "Good morning James." She said very frostily before sitting down in her chair and taking out her Transfiguration book and studying it. (( hopefully it's ok for me to hop in here.. please read my bio I'll go read yours as well. Great to see you abord! ))

Emmeline sucked intently on the tip of her sugar quill as her eyes scanned over the seating chart that didn't seem to have her name listed. Sighing, the girl swung her messanger bag around and shuffled through her bag, determinded to find her schedule. comparing it to the chart, her eyes narrowed in confusion. What the bloody hell? Her finger met the sheet of paper, and she ran down every name. She instantly groaned. she found her name though she was next to a Slytherin. Emmeline never quite liked them. her eyes brightened slightly as she saw she was in front of James.
Walking to her seat, she took off her bag and dropped it to the floor next to her place. The blonde took her seat and instantly turned to James. "McGonagall is mental!" she exclaimed in a harsh whisper. "She hates me, I swear. And I, unlike you-," she added, teasingly. "-didn't even do anything." She sighed heavily, resting her arm on the desk, her chin resting in her hand. Several blonde curls fell and framed her face as her eyes smiled with contained laughter. [/blockquote]

James saw Celestina walk in and sit at the desk next to him, where Lily would eventually join her. She greeted him in an icy tone. It didn't take a genius to notice that he was not particularly fond of him. He thought that it probably had something to do with the whole ink-hair thing. Really. Couldn't she take a joke; in truth it hadn't even been his idea. Sirius had been the insitgator, James had merely been sitting closest and had therefore been elected to perform the deed. Sure, he knew who she was. She was the new girl, but really, she shouldn't take it personally. The marauders tended to act out against whoever was in closest range. Still, he rather regretted the prank now. The last thing he needed was someone else who would make Lily despise him. He could just see them now, sitting there, whispering about how annoying or childish he was. Frankly he didn't care what anyone said about him... except Lily.
He frowned at this thought and even considered apologizing, but the girl was already engrossed in the reading assignment. However, his unhappy demeanor didn't last long, a matter of mere seconds in fact. James could never stay upset for very long. He leaned nonchalantly back in his chair so that it balanced on the rear legs, waiting for class to begin. He had finally glanced at the board to see the reading assignment, and yet his book remained untouched.
He watched as Emme took her seat in front of him looking flustered. Before he could ask what was wrong she turned to him. "She hates me, I swear. And I, unlike you- I didn't even do anything."
He laughed. "Perhaps you are doomed merely by association with me" he suggested with his typical charming smile. "Oh well, at least we shall suffer together" he added in a melodramatic fashion. James loved being the center of attention and could always be counted on to draw this attention to himself.

Celestina, of course, did her best to ignore James as he leaned back in his seat and showed off. His easy attitude seemed to make her even more frosty towards him. Celestina resented the fact he could just.. sit there so easily in his chair and not even seem to have a care in his mind except where his next chance to flirt with Lily was going to come in from.
Celestina sighed, she could have told him.. it was useless with Lily.. Lily detested James and everyone knew that.. even Celestina who had only been there a few days knew it.. but she didn't say anything, merely continued reading and mulling everything over in her mind.

Quiet laughter spilled through Emmeline like it was blood. She smiled, playfully sticking her tongue out at the boy in front of her. "I've always known I'd get in trouble for mere association. And yet, I still love you like a brother," she said, smiling brightly. Emmeline leaned back in her seat to glance at the board. She frowned at the assignment. "She's killing us with knowledge, Jamie," she muttered to James, saying the name Jamie conversationally. She was the only one who could get away with calling them her 'cute little nicknames' without a prank getting pulled on her. Sirius was Sirrie, whether he like it or not, Remus was Remmy. He always would be. And Peter was Petey.
"Oh well, at least we shall suffer together"
Emmeline smiled brightly. "James, darling, dearest," she said, cooing, "You're bloody over dramatic." She giggled quietly and reach over, ruffling his hair in mock affection. "And that's why I love you so."

"She's killing us with knowledge, Jamie."
James made a face at hearing himself called 'Jamie.' No one called him that, not even his mother. This was probably because anyone else that even let the thought cross their mind would find that they suddenly had some very unamused marauders on ther tails. No one, that is, except Emme. James wasn't really sure how or why they had aquired these strange girly pet names, but he had never said anything. He liked Emme and they were close enough that she could get away with certain things. "Well, it's a good thing that i'm never listening isn't it?" he said with a smirk. obviously this wasn't true, James was a very skilled wizard and somehow managed to pick up these skills while at the same time being disruptive in class.
"James, darling, dearest, you're bloody over dramatic. And that's why I love you so."
"I know" he replied with a smile, shaking his head in an attempt to return his hair to its normal state of disarray.
"So... Celestina" he said, giving Emme a wink before turning to the girl "what's the reading assignment say?" James rarely did any of the reading on his own. Usually he just asked Remus or one of his other admirers for a summary.

Celestina spent a very long time still staring at the board before she very slowly turned around to face James. She had the appearance of either being daft, or extremely smart alleck before she even began..
"What's the reading assignment?" She asked in a low sort of voice. "Perhaps.. now I know this is a very.. very.. foreign concept to you Potter, but perhaps.. you should read it yourself instead of being a lazy arse and expecting everyone else to do your work for you.. how's that?" She asked giving him a very fake, sardonic smile..and turning back to her seat.
Suddenly, she turned back around again.. "Oh.. but.. if you're having trouble with the material.. Transfiguration is my best subject.. I'd be happy to help you understand it so that you can do your work instead of needing to rely on others... of course.. that would be assuming you're actually not a lazy git and you really don't understand... so.. either way.. it's a lose lose situation for you.. isn't it?.. Oh.. and I'm not normally this much of a jerk.. but you might just find I don't take very kindly to have someone dip my hair in ink on my first day of classes so that I walk around looking like a complete idiot! Thank you Very much." She said, before spinning around again and going back to reading.

"So... Celestina. What's the reading assignment say?"
Emmeline groaned, holding her hands over her face. "James," she whined into her hands. "Don't." But it was too late. Celestina was already going. The Ravenclaw froze, listening intensely to every word. Her eyes sparked a sharp steel grey as she looked to the person Emme was quickly growing to hate. And Emmeline never hated anyone. In an instant she was in front of Celestina and snapped the open Transfiguration closed with a loud thud.
"What is your problem?" Emmeline exclaimed, suppressing the urge to slap the girl in front of her. Shocking everyone, Emme never once yelled at anyone. And she had never wanted to resort to violence. That was out of character for her. "It was a bloody prank! Get over it!"

Celestina raised one of her light eyebrows in somewhat surprise as Emmeline towered over her, since Celestina was still sitting down. "I am over it." She said simply. "But that doesn't mean I'm going to help James become even more of a lazy git by helping him not do his own work." She said simply. "If Min..." She stopped, couldn't call her Godmum Minerva here.. "If McGonagall wanted me to tell him what the reading said.. she would have to me so.. now.. If you want to tell him what the lessons says.. that's fine by me.. it won't be on my consicence." She said, turning back to her lesson and continuing her work.

As James sat there listening to Celestina's rant, he didn't seem very upset by being called a lazy arse. On the contrary he hardly ackowledged that she was speaking to him at all. He sat there twirling his wand between his fingers with his usual self-satisfied smirk plastered on his face. When she had finished, he was about to say something, but before he could get a word out, Emme had bombarded the girl and slammed her book shut.
"What is your problem? It was a bloody prank! Get over it!"
It took James a second to react to this as he was so surprised by her actions. Emme was usually all sweet and generally soft-spoken. He couldn't believe that she was letting some new girl who didn't yet know her place get her so worked up. When he was finally able to shake himself out of the shock, he dropped the legs of his chair back to the ground and rushed over to his friend. He stood between them facing Emme with his back to Celestina. He placed his hands on her arms in an attempt to calm her down. "Emme, stop. I can defend myself" he said in a whisper. He gave her a small smile that told her that he really was grateful that she had stood up for him. It also assured Emme that this girl was going to get what was coming to her. As anyone who knew James would have said, that devious smirk was definately one to be feared if you were to be the recipient of said payback.
He now turned to back to Celestina, standing at the edge of her desk. He flashed her a fake smile. "Thanks for offering to help me with transfiguration. Thanks awful nice of you" he said with a hint of sarcasm. He stopped twirling his wand and pointed it at the desk. A few orange sparks shot out of it and suddenly, Celestina's book sprouted what looked a lot like crab legs. It slowly got up and started to totter away across the desk. "But, I don't really think that i'll be needing to take you up on that offer." He gave one last twirl of his wand before sticking it back in his robes. He was about to go back to his desk, but paused and turned back to Celestina. "As for me being a lazy git... you don't even know me. If you did, you might have reconsidered before spouting unfounded insults." He finished with a sly smile. He walked back to his own desk. "You may want to catch that" he added just as the crab-book was about to walk off the edge of the table.

Emmeline closed her eyes as James stepped in front of her. "I know you can defend yourself, honey. I just-" She made a quiet growling noise, breaking her whispering voice off short. "I hate her," she whispered. "She can't come into this school, be here a total of five days, then go insulting my best friends." Emme felt off for a second, she never even thought of using the word 'hate' before in her life. Yet she was saying it now without the slightest hesitation or regret. That scared her slightly.
Emmeline couldn't help but smile as James charmed the girl's book. She went to the seat next to James, completely forgetting about the seating chart for a moment. She smiled as she leaned closed to him. "I say we teach her where she stands in this school," she whispered in his ear suggestively.

Crap. Lily had slept in late! How in the world could this have happened? She hadhad her alarm set for six thirty and it was now seven fourty five. She had just finished getting dreesed and picked up her bags when her alarm finally sounded. She looked at it in disgust and threw the pillow at it. "Great, now you sound!" she yelled at it. With a small huff, she walked out of the commonroom door and flew down the corridor to the DADA room.
When she stepped inside, the first person to catch her eye was James, then Celestia and finally Emmeline. She rolled her eyes at Em and James and strolled right past James's desk, her bag sweaping all of his papers onto the floor. She stopped infront if him and made a pouty face. "Oops! I'm sorry Potter." she said to him. But she soon got over it and walked towards Celestia.
"Hey," she said with a small smile. "Is everything okay?" she asked, flashing a look at James, then looking back at her friend.

James resumed the laid back position he had previously held in his seat, leaning back on the legs of his chair. As Emme walked over to sit next to him, his usual pleasant demeanor returned. It was really hard to get James angry for long. He was generally a happy person and there wasn't anything so awful that he couldn't handle it.
"I say we teach her where she stands in this school."
"You read my mind, honey" he replied in a calm tone. His attention was caught, however, by the sound of someone rushing into the class and up towards the front of the room. As he turned to look, Lily brushed past him and managed to blow every single one of his papers to the floor. How does she do it? he wonddered to himself. It's like she has an anti-James deflector.
"Oops! I'm sorry Potter."
She didn't sound sorry, but James tried not to let it bother him. He took his wand back out and the papers flew back into a neat pile. "No problem babe" he said flashing her his most charming smile and trying to play it cool. Still, he was anxious when she immediately went to talk to Celestina. Considering the morning they had had so far, he was sure that she wouldn't have anything good to say about him. When Lily had turned her attention to her deskmate, James looked at Emme and frowned a bit.

Celestina breathed a sigh of relief as her friend rushed into class. She wasn't taking on James, Sirius, and Emmeline alone now. She smiled at her and nodded, "Good morning, Lils.. I'm glad you're here." She said honestly, scooting over to make room for Lily to share her desk and spread her notes out across her part of the desk.
"James was just attempting to get me to tell him what's in our lesson today so he could wriggle out of having to read it himself." Celestina said simply. "I said no of course." She smirked. "Like I'm really going to turn around and help him out after he sent me out to make a fool of myself my first day of classes.. I think not! Emmeline thinks I should 'get over it' but.. honestly Lils." She dropped her voice low.. "I'm a brand new student in a group of already formed friendships and relationships.. I stick out like a sore thumb and I don't need half black hair to help me make a complete idiot of myself."
Suddenly she noticed her crab legged book and reached over, grabbing it. She took out her wand and whipped it across the book cover charming it back nonverbally. This was something most students didn't learn until sixth year, but she'd persuaded Sir Nicholas to begin teaching her a few months ago and she'd gotten the hang of it. She put the book- normal once again- back aside.
